some of the most beautiful, pristine wilderness in northern
Wisconsin, Rusk County has some of the best opportunities
for the Cross-Country Skiing enthusiast.
In northwestern Rusk County, a perfect Cross-Country Skiing
destination, the
Ice Age National Scenic Trail winds
through the 27-mile high quartzite shoulder of the Blue
Hills amid small streams in an ash, birch, and maple
forest. All segments of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail
are open to travel on foot for a variety of uses, including
cross-country skiing.
Located about 12 miles northwest of Bruce, Wisconsin, the
Blue Hills Trails provides over
20 miles of Cross-Country ski trails maintained by the Rusk
County Trails Association.
The
Sisters’ Farm Trail southwest of Ladysmith on the
banks of the Flambeau River, provide you with 6 miles of
cross-country skiing fun. The view is great and the skiing
exhilarating.
The
Ladysmith High School Ski Trail is 1½ miles long
and includes a lighted loop, just perfect for the evening
cross-country skier. Just follow U.S. Highway 8 east of
Ladysmith to Rocky Ridge Road.
