Got Your Bike?
When it comes to mountain bikes and biking trails, Rusk
County offers a variety of trails.
LATA, the Ladysmith Area
Trails Association is our local “silent” sports and outdoor
recreational group formed for the purpose to promote,
develop, educate, and enjoy these sports within the
Ladysmith area. LATA maintains both the
Ladysmith-Hawkins High School trail
and the Sisters Farm Trails. Located
just within the eastern city limits,
the Ladysmith-Hawkins High
School trail
has a total of 2K groomed trails, with a
1.4K-lighted loop for those evening bike rides.
The
Sister’s Farm Mountain Biking Trail System,
(12K
available SW of Ladysmith)
provides opportunities for
biking, hiking, and skiing. Bikers will find single and
multi-track biking. For more information about these
trails, contact LATA on line at:

There
are other recreational trails within Rusk County. The
former Flambeau Mine site, south of Ladysmith along
Highway 27 was transformed into 32-acres of biking and
hiking trails. The City of Ladysmith has developed the
Riverview Trail along the south bank of the Flambeau
River, connecting County G and State Highway 27. Both can
be used for biking, hiking, ungroomed skiing, or showshoeing.
The Blue Hills
Trail System in Northwest Rusk County is also an
excellent area for biking. With more than 10+ miles of
biking and logging roads, the West side of the trail system
is open and suitable for mountain biking over a rolling
terrain.
A 14-mile
Flambeau River State Forest Mountain Biking Trail is
located north of Hawkins on County Road M.
For the Extreme
Mountain Biker, Rusk County has over 88,000 acres of public
lands full of logging trails and paths. For more complete
