Back 40 Trail Riders "Suit up-let's ride" is what the newly formed Back 40 Trail Riders from the Island Lake area in Rusk County are hoping to do this winter! The Back 40 Trail Riders have grown very fast in just a short period of time. The end of the August a group of snowmobile enthusiast decided to form a club. By the end of September the officers and board of directors were in place. On October 1st the membership to the AWSC was mailed. By mid December we had 35 memberships. An encouraging sign is the number of families that have joined who have youth that are growing up with the sport. In December we held our first Christmas Party. We offered an open invitation to the community which turned out to be a great success. From this gesture, 3 new memberships were gained! Another pleasant surprise was having 3 generations present showing how snowmobiling is really a family sport. The Back 40 Trail Riders enjoy the true meaning of snowmobiling... camaraderie. Many of the members started riding together a few years ago by getting together to ride to county events and any other time when conditions were favorable. A tradition formed 3 years ago of an overnight ride to Hayward or if need be we traveled further north. We are hoping this year to actually be able to ride from home instead of having to trailer our sleds! One of our goals is to offer something for everyone. Whether you're young or old, ride or not we are the club to check out. We are a "community friendly" club with plans for giving back to the community in the future and hoping to make a positive impact in the community. In closing, we urge clubs to take notice of what a group of people who have the passion, drive and a positive attitude cad to to promote the great sport of snowmobiling. "Suit up-let's ride"
