Will the
seasonal flu shot protect me against the novel H1N1
Influenza Virus?
- Not likely, but the
seasonal flu shot can help protect yourself and
those around you from seasonal flu. Typically,
seasonal flu is just one shot.
- When the H1N1 novel
influenza vaccine becomes available,
groups recommended to get the novel H1N1
influenza vaccine will need to get two
additional shots.
- Get a pneumonia shot to
prevent secondary infection if you are over the
age of 65 or have a chronic illness such as
diabetes or asthma. For specific guidelines,
talk to your health care provider
- Make sure that your
family's immunizations are up-to-date.
