Land & Water Conservation

The goal of our department is to foster and support a locally led process that improves decision making, streamlines administration and maximizes local, state, and federal funds to protect Wisconsin’s soil and water resources.

We are currently working to update the Rusk County Farmland Preservation Plan.

By updating our plan, Rusk County farmers may be eligible for a tax credit of $5-10 per acre of land enrolled in the program.

A public hearing is scheduled in coordination with the December 19th County Board meeting.

If you would like more information or to comment on the plan update. Please contact John Krell, 532-2162.

The Rusk County Land & Water Conservation Department offers technical assistance for shoreline restoration.

Call the office to get advice about plants, shrubs, and trees appropriate for your property and directions on how to get them established.
