Rusk County Jail

Inmate Visitation

Visiting Hours

Saturday or Sunday, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Visiting Rules

Visits with pre-authorized members of the clergy will be allowed at reasonable times and for a reasonable amount of time not to exceed one hour or as determined by jail staff.

Visits with attorneys will be allowed at reasonable times and for reasonable amount of time not to exceed one hour or as determined by jail staff.

Visual observation may be maintained during your visits.

The inmate will be permitted one visit per week after the initial court appearance.

Visitation is allowed only during the visiting hours of 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Saturday or Sunday. Each visit may be up to thirty minutes in length.

Visits are limited to two visitors at any one time and must be scheduled twenty-four hours in advance. Appointments are made with the jail staff. Failure to give proper notice may result in losing visiting privileges for two weeks.

Permitted visitors include immediate family members (parent, spouse, sibling, grandparent or child) and one designated adult non-family member (designated at time of booking). Visitors under the age of eighteen must be accompanied by an adult family member who has visiting privileges. Children under the age of twelve are not permitted to visit unless prior approval is obtained from the on-duty jailer.

Contact visits are not permitted except for the following persons while conducting official business: law enforcement officers, persons affiliated with law enforcement, law enforcement chaplains, pre-authorized attorneys, and persons pre-approved by the sheriff or jail supervisor.

No visits will be allowed for any/all former inmates of the Rusk County Jail for ninety days after the former inmate was released from jail.

The jail staff may deny a visit to any person when, in the jailers opinion, allowing the visit may present a threat to the safety of those concerned or have a potential to interfere with the security or orderly operation of the jail.

Visits may be suspended or canceled during an emergency.

Requests for exceptions to visitation must be submitted in writing. Such requests must provide a detailed explanation as to the need for the exception and specify dates and times, names, etc.
